Behind the battered red doors of a gym in East London, towering heavyweights spar in the ring, exchanging thumping lefts and rights as their corner men shout out instructions. Tucked away to the side of the sweat stained canvas, a heavy punching bag shifts from side to side with the impact of each punch. But this fighter, is not a monstrous heavyweight, but a petite 12 year old girl in a hijab flanked by her doting dad. Aida is used to being the lone female in the boxing gym but this doesn't stop her from giving as good as she gets. While her skills and talent are impressive on their own merits, Aida is also fighting a different fight outside of the ring; to show that girls who wear the hijab can do anything their non wearing counterparts can do. Aida wants to one day realise her dreams of being the first hijabi boxer to fly the flag for Britain at the Olympics. In this My Life film, we follow Aida as she builds up to her first ever boxing match. But when injury strikes, everything is put on hold. Will she reach the level of fitness required for her match in just a few weeks time?\n
