Top criminal barristers Sasha Wass and Jeremy Dein look back at their investigation of a murder case from the 1930s and discover that a family torn apart has finally been reunited.\n\nDorset, 1935, and murder most foul when husband and father-of-five Frederick Bryant dropped dead, seemingly poisoned with a fatal dose of arsenic. Suspicion quickly fell on Frederick’s wife Charlotte – an adulterer and, in the eyes of the police, a murderess.\n\nCharlotte was tried, convicted and hanged for the murder of her husband, and their five children were placed in an orphanage. Then, in 2017, their youngest son, William - who knew nothing of his family’s history until he read about it in a newspaper in 1964 – became eager to find the truth about the tragedy that left him an orphan.\n\nWilliam and his son David joined forces with Sasha and Jeremy to reinvestigate the evidence. Was it a case of accidental poisoning? What role did the intimidation of key witnesses play in the trial? And crucially, was there a compelling case that the barristers could present to a Crown Court judge?\n\nNow it’s nearly a year on from their investigation, and the barristers catch up with William and David to find out about developments in their lives since the original programme aired. They bring the joyful news that their family has finally been reunited.
