Series 1: 3. Growing and Cooking

Join Maddie to find out how we grow and cook the food we eat as she prepares and makes a meal for her friends at the Eco Village. We visit the vegetable garden to see how long it takes for vegetables to grow, how much space we need and how food that grows at different times of the year is called seasonal produce.\n\nMaddie uses her special cameras to show how we can grow food in a polytunnel, and we discover how the fruit and vegetables we buy in the supermarket are grown. Next, Maddie uses all the veg she’s collected to batch-cook her favourite meal for all her friends, and we learn that the leftovers, like peels from fruit and veg, can be collected to be turned into compost and help to look after our planet.
