Hamza Shaikh examines why men account for around three quarters of suicide deaths despite data showing that men are less likely to access psychological therapies than women. Hamza sees a preview of a video made by pupils at Elmfield School for the Deaf in conjunction with Boys in Mind to empower boys and young men to talk about their emotions. Hamza also speaks with deaf medical professionals to find out what can be done to raise awareness of men’s mental health and to encourage men to seek help if needed.\n\nIn the ‘studio’, Julian and Yvonne meet with members of Interpreters of Colour Network (IOCN), an organisation aiming to address the underrepresentation of people of colour in the sign language interpreting and translation profession, in order to learn more about how the organisation was set up, what its aims are and what the response has been. Throughout the conversation, Yvonne and Julian discover that there are not enough interpreters of colour and learn about the importance of growing the pool of interpreters of colour.\n\nAndrew Clifton lets us into his secret garden, which he has been cultivating for years. Andrew explains the importance of creating a safe haven for wildlife to combat declining numbers and demonstrates how to make a bird feeder from a chipped mug!\n\nFinally, Julian learns how running apps have become popular since lockdown and gives one of the apps a try. Keen to run in a safe way, Julian seeks advice from personal trainer James Stavros and coach Mark Hester to learn how to warm up and how to improve his running technique to avoid injury.
