Veteran Tony comes to the workshop to tell Jay about fellow veteran Paul, who suffered problems such as homelessness when he left the forces. Paul went on to set up a charity in Hull to help other former service men and women with things like housing and food. The charity plans to build the world’s first veteran’s village, featuring 48 homes. Tony would like Jay and his team to come up with something for Paul’s office. Expert woodworker Saf designs a Union Jack desk that opens up to form a meeting table, and his team, Kate and Jabbar, set to work building it. The project is extra special for Kate as she comes from a military family. \n\nAlso visiting the workshop is Lesley. She comes to tell Jay about Edgar and Elizabeth, who fostered her when she was a teenager. Lesley says they helped turn her life around and that she and her family now feel like a part of theirs, something she wasn’t expecting as a young person growing up in the care system. Edgar and Elizabeth have gone on to foster 130 children. Elizabeth has always wanted a rocking horse, so Isabelle and her team create a contemporary take on the traditional toy, which they give to the surprised couple.\n\nFinally, Ciaran and his team make a personalised snooker cue and case to thank Qasim, a young local who galvanised Bradford City Football Club and others to help get meals to people in the city who were left in financial difficulties during lockdown.
