Zoe has a dream in which Vincent Kompany encourages her to seize the day and prove she has what it takes to captain the U14s at the Gothia Cup. Full of energy and determination, Zoe rushes out of the door without letting her mum Claire, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, get a word in edgeways - even though Claire has something important she wants to speak to Zoe about.\n\nFollowing the Liam/Alba incident the previous week, Phoenix’s sponsors Tenjin withdraw their support from the club, leaving Duncan in serious financial difficulties. A furious Duncan castigates Sienna and ‘fires’ her from her position as social media manager – she’s upset, then becomes determined to make it up to her dad in some way. \n\nAt training, Molly says that no one is going to Sweden unless they sort their act out. She leaves the U14s in the sports hall and tells them to do just that. Zoe takes it on herself to gee up a despondent Jamie and to get Ruby and Dillon to bury the hatchet after their siblings’ scandalous fight. When Molly returns, she’s impressed to find that Zoe has rallied the troops and got everyone training productively. Sienna was also watching and, inspired by Zoe, decides to film the U14s’ next match as she searches for content to help restore Phoenix’s reputation.\n\nDuncan speaks to a confidant over the phone who advises him to cash in on his assets to solve his financial problems. Duncan circles a picture of Jamie on his desk ominously, then goes to speak to Karen about the possibility of big clubs making an approach for Jamie. Karen rightly points out that this would be illegal given Jamie’s age. Duncan is rebuffed and retreats, disappointed.\n\nZoe goes home full of beans but gets a bombshell from Claire, who can’t get care cover for the dates of the Gothia Cup. So even if the U14s are chosen to go, Zoe won’t be able to join them since she’s her mum’s principle carer. Zoe gets upset and angry, saying some horrible things to her mum, then storms out furiously.\n\nIt’s the next day and the U14s have their next match. Everyone is astonished when Molly offers Zoe the captaincy but Zoe grumpily turns it down. Molly hands the armband to another player instead – and he’s terrible, failing to communicate with his players or motivate them. Mid-game, Jamie’s dad Ian turns up on the sidelines and Jamie is overjoyed to see him. Ian gives him some words of encouragement and tells him to take responsibility for his team. At half-time, Jamie has words with Zoe, asking her what’s wrong. She eventually relents and tells him why she can’t go to the Gothia Cup. Jamie spots Karen and fills her in. \n\nKaren introduces Duncan to Ian, who is overawed by meeting one of his Hawkstone heroes. Duncan realises that Ian might be more susceptible to his ideas about Jamie’s future and, realising that Ian is only in town for work, offers him the job of handyman at Goodfield Park in order to keep him close. Ian gratefully accepts.\n\nInspired by Jamie’s words, Zoe takes control of the second half of the game and leads the team to victory. Sienna captures some great footage, including a conciliatory moment between Ruby and Dillon, and posts it online to help rehabilitate Phoenix’s image – Duncan, though initially angry, realises the merit of what she’s done and reinstates her as social media manager. \n\nAfter the game, Molly offers Zoe the captaincy again and she accepts, but tells everyone she might not be able to go to Sweden. She then immediately excuses herself so she can run home and apologise to her mum. When she gets home she finds Karen sat with her mum. Claire tells her Karen is going to take care of her which means Zoe can go to Sweden after all.
