In 1943, as the Allies make good progress driving back the Axis powers in Italy, Frank Stokes convinces President Roosevelt to set up an army unit to search for looted art and return it to its rightful owners. \n\nHe recruits his unit of 'Monuments Men' from European and American, who between them have zero military experience but are prepared to risk their lives to ensure that these artistic treasures are preserved.\n\nLoosely based on a true story.
