Ada McGrath is a non-speaking Scottish woman and eloquent piano player who has been sold into marriage to a farmer in New Zealand. Shipped off across the waters, along with her young daughter Flora and her precious piano, Ada sternly refuses to warm up to her husband, Alisdair, or the settler way of life - especially after Alisdair informs her that he has sold her piano to local farm hand George Baines and that she is to teach Baines to play it.\n\nIn English, Maori and sign language with English subtitles.
